Local Attractions in Lancefield, Macedon Ranges
Only 70km northeast of Melbourne, Lancefield and the surrounding Macedon Ranges have no shortage of attractions, activities, historic buildings, gardens, galleries, restaurants and walks. Lancefield Guesthouse is located right in the heart of the action.
The area also caters for all sorts of experiences. For something a bit more decadent, there are day spas nearby ready to pamper. Or if you’re feeling energetic, the 72 par Lancefield Golf Club is only a short 9-iron away. There are also other golf courses close for you to practise your swing.

Hanging Rock, arguably the area’s most famous attraction, is just a 15-minute drive from Lancefield Guesthouse. With stunning views of the surrounding areas and a mysterious history, Hanging Rock continues to be a hugely popular destination for tourists. Close by are the beautiful gardens of Mt Macedon, where you’ll witness a blend of magnificent mansions, wildlife and nature, which still impresses even local residents. There are plenty more bike and walking trails, so be sure to ask Peter and Kate for their hot tips.
The Macedon Ranges has developed a reputation for fine food and drink, with the right soil for wine and a lot of focus on local produce. There are many wineries nearby to enjoy a taste testing, while the award-winning Local Farmers Market showcases some of the finest foods in Australia – every fourth Saturday.
There are nine beautifully quaint and historic villages in the Macedon Ranges, including Woodend, Malmsbury, Kyneton, Romsey, Lancefield, Gisborne, Macedon, Mt Macedon, Riddles Creek, each hosting a variety of high quality cafes and restaurants.
